We're the new guys on the block
We just opened up on April 1, 2024 as Misthaven Resort, and we're really excited!
So... we bought a campground
We found a small quiet spot in the middle of nowhere. It's small, but friendly, and will form the backbone for the campground we want to offer you. We bought the place fairly recently, in May 2023, and have been busy ever since painting and upgrading here and there. It wasn't until December 2023 that we decided to convert the campground from its original family-style format to a LGBTQIA+ friends format.
We have a LOT on the drawing board
Everything starts off small and slow. Misthaven is no different. We know we have a lot to do to get up to par. We plan to add more shower facilities, a dog park, wifi, more campsites, a bigger pool, some type of small dining area and a more robust general store. If you can think of it, it's probably on our list of things we are working on adding. Rome wasn't built in a day, so check back with us as we grow!
About Misthaven Resort
We're located near Peru, Indiana
The campground has had numerous owners over the years. It was a Jellystone park at one time, as well as a KOA. Most recently it was under private ownership prior to our acquisition. We've been working hard to bring the campground in to the 21st century, but still have a long way to go. When we bought the place, reservations were still done entirely over the phone, and made on a 1998 HP desktop with a 17MB hard drive, which wasn't connected up to the web..... at all. So, we had to do quite a bit of upgrading to get where we are now, to a state whereby we could begin to accommodate guests more efficiently.
About the area
Peru, Indiana is the closest town to offer any amenities at all. There is a McDonald's, a Subway and a small convenience store about a mile and half away from the campground, as well as EV chargers. Peru itself offers most of the bigger fast food joints, pizza joints, a Kroger, ATM's and a hardware/ farm and fleet store. Peru also has the closest pharmacies and urgent care facilities. If you're an early riser, you may do well to check out Gabriel's Pancake House for breakfast in Peru. Peru also has an interesting pull-up style eatery called, aptly enough, Mr. Weenie (no pun intended), and Peru is also quite proud of its long-running Circus heritage. (Pictured)
Logansport, 15 miles to the west, offers much of the same as Peru, plus an Applebees, Bob Evans, Home Depot and a WalMart. Logansport also has the only Starbucks in the area.
Our Values
We believe in "Do unto others". That means you'll have our respect and attention as soon as you walk in the front door. You will be treated with respect. Similarly, we expect the same from our guests... and the guests within your group or party. We also expect everyone who passes through our property to adhere to our rules. Now here's where it starts to get sticky: If you fail to adhere, we will ask you to do so, politely. If you have two or three cars parked on your lot, we will ask you to remove all but one. If you bring guests, we will ask that they ALL get checked-in and pay the applicable fees. Failure to abide by these and any of our other rules risks getting vehicles towed, or asking people to leave the facility. We don't WANT to have cars towed or evict people, but, sadly, this is sometimes the case. So, the bottom line is to respect our rules, and "Do unto others." Treat us with respect, treat your fellow campers with respect, follow our rules, and everything else should fall in to place and take care of itself.

Our Location
Misthaven offers a site that is equidistant between many major metropolitian centers. We couldn't have found a better site pretty much in the center of Chicago, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis and Detroit. And getting here isn't a problem.... two regional 4-lane highways (Routes 24 and 31) intersect about two miles from the campground, allowing for ease of access almost to our doorstep.
Our Amenities
We offer all the basics that you expect out of a LGBTQIA+ friends campground, and many more offerings are on the way! Since we are a new campground, we need your help to grow and expand. We also need you to tell us what you want to see added to the list of new attractions. Do you guys want to see a hot tub or more cabins? More camp sites or faster wifi? At Misthaven, YOU will be asked what YOU want out of a LGBTQIA+ friends campground, and we will mold our building plans around what YOU say we need to add.
Our Accommodations
We have about 100 campsites, offering a mix of 30 and 50 amp electric, some primitive tent sites and ones with water and electric, and a whole bunch of RV sites. And of course we have a few RVs and a cabin for rent.
Covered Pavilion
This is where we'll host all our drag shows and other entertainment. Any queens in the area interested in MC'ing weekend drag events? Give us a holler! Anyone have an idea for a show to put on in the pavilion? We have a few ideas for shows we want to put on, and we welcome input from others. Tell us what you have in mind! The pavilion has seating for about 100 under the roof, and plenty more can be accommodated on picnic tables outside.
Disc Golf
On Misthaven sits the oldest disc golf course in Indiana. There's a lot of history here. The disc golf course is still open to the public. Would there be any interest amongst Misthaveners about starting up a LGBTQIA+ friends disc golf league?
Large Pool
Our 20' x 50' pool is big enough to accommodate a large gathering, and we'll have plenty of deck chairs, lounge chairs and tables. A sculpted aluminum mermaid keeps watch over the pool area.
Laundry Facilities
Coin-Op washers and dryers to wash all your undies and delicates.

We're off to a running start! But, there's more work to do. There's still tons yet to be pressure washed, re-painted, and landscaping to get caught up on. And, of course, more amenities such as a hot tub and cabins to rent out. So, come join us! You're going to get in on the ground floor. Join us, watch us grow and thrive, and together we can hit this campground a home run and make it the best that it can be! We're not doing this for us. We're doing this for the LGBTQIA+friends community.... for YOU. There are only so many places where the LGBTQIA & friends community can let their hair down and be themselves and meet with others in a fun, exciting, vibrant outdoor environment. That's the experience we want to deliver!
